Ghana 2018: Mary’s Reflection

by Mary Wade, volunteer in Ghana, February 2018

This was quite a reward working with Dr. Glenn and Dr. Grace as a volunteer at the hospitals and out in the villages. The patients were very humble and very pleased to receive their medical care. I was the nurse assistant and the pharmacy assistant. I so enjoyed the patients. I loved caring for them.

It was most important for me to establish a relationship with the people I met. We had a great volunteer group of six, working diligently in the care of the patients, providing much support and teamwork.

I will always remember this mission and be mindful with great regards. The people there were so welcoming. I enjoyed giving lots of hugs and giving many hand shakes, and my conversations with people – this was most important for me.

I enjoyed our time sightseeing as well.
