Satellite, Solar Power and Steel
The Mission to Heal Mobile Surgical Unit is a one-of-a-kind operating suite on wheels which has facilitated hundreds of donated operations performed by dozens of medical professionals in the most remote locations in the Philippines within the last two years.
And we’re building another one.
We are excited to announce that the second Mission to Heal Mobile Surgical Unit (MSU II) is in production! Features include:
- 2 separate trailer modules designed in the dimensions of shipping containers that can be transported by truck, train, plane, or boat
- Completely self-sufficient solar power generation, water purification, and refrigeration
- Solid steel frame, insulation, and waterproofing
- Built-in storage for medical supplies and basic accommodations for volunteers (toilet, shower, hideaway bunks)
- 3 operating tables that can be run simultaneously for maximum impact on remote peoples
- Inmarsat satellite communications for both security and telemedicine capability
This is a rugged, tough piece of equipment that is designed especially for reaching the most remote locations with healing surgical care. We are so grateful to the many supporters who have invested in this project, but we still have a ways to go!
Would you consider giving specifically to the creation of the MSU II? This is a tool that we know will transform many lives, but it will also require a great sacrifice to keep it fully stocked and in top shape for medical missions.
